Job Description


A Hazardous Cargo Coordinator in Scottsdale is available courtesy of Robert Half. Are you familiar with validating documents and compliance according to the 49 CFR, International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code, and CMA rand partners policies? This job may be for you!

·        Receive and verify PRELIMINARY hazardous declarations and validate the documents are compliant according to the 49 CFR, International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code, and CMA rand partners policies. Verify and validate the documents against the information in internal system (LARA) and make appropriate corrections and contact customer if necessary.
·         Organize and review incoming hazardous booking emails by service and completes hazardous booking details in internal system (LARA) for approval.
·         Research and determine actions to answer and solve customer hazardous booking questions, issues and complaints in order for container to in-gate terminal and rail head or load vessel.
·         Process hazardous request and send to Hazardous Specialists for acceptance and approval. After approval, confirm booking and send booking confirmations to customers. Offer routing change solutions when cargo will be refused at transshipment port.
·         Confirm and validate FINAL hazardous declaration against internal system (LARA) for rail billing requests when asked and confirm approval.
·         Contact Customers and collect FINAL hazardous declaration and associated documents such as but not limited to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Check any discrepancies and ensure compliance with regulations and work with customers for corrections of any discrepancy. Submit customer’s FINAL hazardous declaration to APM Terminals for pre-advising gate and rail entrance before truckers and rail arrival at terminal.
·         Submit and serve as a liaison with terminals and Marine port operations regarding hazardous declarations and other hazardous documents.
·         Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.


·         High School degree required.
·         Minimum of one year work experience.
·         Good written and verbal communication with internal and external customers
·         Good interpersonal , organizational, and problem solving skills
·         Ability to multi task and prioritize
·         Ability to make fast paced decisions
·         Basic computer skills (such as Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook)
·         Ability to work under pressure
·         Customer service skills
·         Good math skills
·         Detailed oriented
