Under the direction of the VP of Grants and Research this position oversees renewals and post award activities including financial and reporting requirements as well as provides leadership over these areas. This position assures that negotiations and approval processes for Grant and Research post-award activities are timely and accurate. Assures that Grant and Research Operations are conducted in compliance with approved federal regulations. Assures that grant operations are monitored and appropriately documented. In addition has responsibility, as assigned and delegated, for conduct of grant and research projects; for the securing and management of grant, research and subcontracts and budgets; and for oversight of grant projects conducted at MIHS.

 

Qualifications:

 

Requires a Bachelor's degree in management or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work. A Master's degree in business management or related field is preferred. (e.g., MPH, MPA, MBA).  Must have at least five (5) years of experience in Grants program management specific to project management and/or contract management and at least two (2) years of progressively responsible management/supervisory experience.  A Master's degree will substitute for two (2) years of required program management experience.  A MBA and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred but not required.  Must have knowledge of project management, grants operations, contract and grant processes.  Must be knowledgeable about and assure compliance with all regulations related to the conduct of grants.  Must have attention to detail and deadlines; work well with people; and have good organizational, communication and negotiations skills.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present to all sizes of audiences.  Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities.  Must be proficient with systems and variety of software applications.  Leadership facilitation, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills are required.   Must be detailed oriented.  Must have ability to work in a team environment and ability to influence, motivate, and lead stakeholders from various business units to reach agreement. Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
