POSITION SUMMARY:

The Certification & Licensing Division is responsible for protecting the public by assuring only qualified applicants become certified to engage in certain regulated professions and further assuring that, once certified, the professionals comply with regulatory standards. The Division is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Certification and Investigation Specialist V. In addition to other duties, the successful candidate will assist with these responsibilities regarding the following professions: Fiduciaries, Legal Document Preparers, Defensive Driving Schools and Instructors, Certified Reporters and Confidential Intermediaries.

This fast paced, thought provoking, position performs both background investigations of applicants and complaint investigations concerning certified professionals. These investigations may include the development of an investigative plan, discovery of additional documentation or other information, interviewing investigative leads, and writing clear and concise investigation reports. In addition to the investigation aspect of this position, the position is involved in all aspects of the process and may assist in crafting recommendations to the Board, provide written and verbal presentations to the Board and as appropriate testifying in hearings. Given the position’s responsibilities, the successful candidate must exercise good judgement, have a creative approach to problem solving and be able to effectively work with other staff, the certified professionals and Board members.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The Successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and three years related experience. Directly related experience may substitute for the educational requirements. The successful candidate will possess effective written and oral business communication skills, including interviewing techniques and must have the ability to understand and apply court rules, policies and procedures and the ability to work effectively with applicants, certificate holders, complainants, administrators and the public. This position also requires demonstrated ability to consistently exercise independent initiative and judgement on complex issues, excellent attention to detail, and superior organizational and time management skills along with excellent documentation and report writing experience. Proficiency in basic software programs and Internet searches is required.

Travel level: negligible, but must have the ability to travel independently across the state for investigations or hearings.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Some positions may take 4-6 weeks to fill. Only applicants whose background most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to interview.
