Job Description
The University Technology Office (UTO) Development team at ASU is seeking a highly motivated UX Researcher to create, guide and support the UI/UX of responsive web projects, mobile applications, and our growing base of cutting-edge products. UTO Development is a diverse team of 90+ developers and analysts that provide robust, secure software and systems to the University community of students, faculty, and staff.


This is not a grant funded position and is not contingent on future grant funding.
Salary Range: Depends on experience

Essential Duties
•Our UX Researcher will work closely with business analysts, project managers, developers, and project owners to create innovative, best-in-class user experiences. You will collaborate with design managers in order to help create and validate UX theories, inform design rationales and measure UX improvements. You will have three focuses: user research, usability testing and UX design. In all roles, you will also have to effectively communicate and present test plans, research findings, conceptual ideas and detailed design rationale for review and feedback.
•From a User Research perspective, your focus will be on deeply understanding our target users and their environments. You’ll need to reveal what users need from our products by conducting primary research, exploring behaviors and motivations, and working with diverse teams to develop new features. You’ll have to distill project goals and research questions into well thought-out research plans.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Information Technology, Business, Communications or closely related field AND three (3) years web content, graphic design or electronic publishing experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
•Experience in using organizational skills, including prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines with a quick turnaround.
•Experience in work that requires attention to detail.
•Experience in using visual design, layout, and typography skills.
•Experience in using communication, presentation, and analytical skills including communicating complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively.
•Evidence of a portfolio demonstrating relevant work experience which displays a strong design aesthetic and user centered design principles.
•Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers to ensure the successful implementation of a design.
•Demonstrated knowledge of research strategies like creating personas, journey maps, and user scenarios; conducting task analysis, contextual observation, user interviews, and surveys; and evaluating web analytics

•Work environment is a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
•Use office equipment including a desktop computer.
•Lift up to 20 pounds.
•Clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
