Job Description:
Facilities Management, Tempe campus, seeks a Mover to move heavy objects, furniture, and equipment.

Essential Duties:
Assemble furniture and equipment. Utilize hand tools (e.g. screw driver, pliers, wrenches, socket wrenches) and power tools (e.g. drill). Operate dollies/handcarts, forklift and other moving equipment. Deliver and set up chairs and tables for university functions. Wear personal protective equipment (e.g. safety glasses, hard hat, gloves). Drive university vehicle. Ability to communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 6:00AM - 2:30PM

Minimum Qualifications:
Any experience which provides knowledge, skills and ability to perform the work. Employee must possess a valid US Drivers license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience in:

  • professional moving/event setup;
  • operating a forklift;
  • driving 16 to 18-foot stakebed trucks with lift gates;
  • using hand trucks and dollies;
  • using hand and power tools (i.e., screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, allen wrenches, drills);
  • using forklifts,
  • customer service

Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills

Working Environment:
Lift/push/pull and carry objects up to 100 pounds. Work for long periods of time outside in varied temperatures.

This position is located at the University Services Building, 1551 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ (on Rural Road south of Apache Blvd).

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.

Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment.
